SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Public Allies is a national youth leadership organization that serves 15 communities throughout the country. Our primary program is a 10-month long apprenticeship and leadership learning program for young adults ages 18-30, funded through AmeriCorps, and based in the values of collaboration, continuous learning, inclusion, focus on assets, and integrity. The Program Manager will be the primary support for Allies as they go through the program, and will also manage the recruitment and communications processes for Allies.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
• Manage/Coach 15 Allies in their personal and professional development through Individual Development Plans.
• Manage relationship between Allies and Partner Organization supervisors through regular communication and quarterly 3-way meetings.
• Complete administrative duties related to Ally management, including maintaining Ally files.
• Administer evaluations of Ally learning and progress in meeting position objectives.
• Coach teams of Allies through their Team Service Projects.


ALLY RECRUITMENT & ADMISSIONS
• Facilitate overall recruitment, placement, and admissions process.
• Develop and implement screening and interviewing process of applicants.
• Disseminate necessary promotional materials.
• Outreach to community to recruit potential program participants by making presentations to classrooms, youth groups, etc.
• Outreach to community members to support admissions process.

TRAINING AND LEARNING
• Plan, coordinate and/or facilitate trainings for program participants according to the Public Allies national curriculum. Trainings include an 8 day core retreat/training, half day trainings in a variety of leadership topics every other week, mid-year retreat and end of year celebration.


OTHER:
• Participate in outreach efforts that increase the visibility and capacities of the organization.
• Develop and implement special projects as they arise.
• Participate in national program efforts.
• Create and support program innovations that improve quality, increase impact, decrease costs or encourage growth.

Skills and Experience: Able to work with various learning styles * listening skills and ability to connect with and support others * Experience working with youth and young adults * interpersonal skills: diplomatic and conflict resolution skills * Able to prioritize and delegate: works well under pressure * Strong team skills and collaborative leadership * Honest, open and articulate public speaker * Strong writing skills * Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers * Have worked in diverse environments * Significant work or involvement in the local non-profit community * Highly organized and attentive to details * Experience working within national service or community service settings * Demonstrated experience working in multicultural environments * Experienced PC user, especially in Microsoft Office applications * Must have own transportation for field work * Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
