Job Description: Description
Lead and conduct processes associated with new supplier identification, development and qualification. Develop methodologies, measurements and reporting mechanisms to communicate approach, progress and results of supplier identification/development activities. Ensure optimal utilization of current suppliers’ capacity and capabilities to meet Program needs. Coordinate actions with Business Development, Marketing, Programs and other Supply Chain functions to ensure future supplier and sub-contractor needs are addressed. Lead audit and evaluation of strategic supply base for sourcing of GD-OTS projects for design and manufacture. • Conduct analysis to gain knowledge of supplier/sub-contractor capabilities for known and potential business needs and requirements. Methods include research, meetings, supplier communications and various other methods to ensure effective development of suppliers to meet new and continuing Program requirements. • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Programs to develop viable alternate sources; identify negotiation opportunities to improve level of service and reduce costs. • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance utilizing kaizen and LSS activities within supplier network • Lead and emphasize continuous improvement interaction with subcontractors, functional peer groups, and customers, as appropriate • Stay abreast of current industry sourcing practices and develop best practices in areas of strategic sourcing • Evaluate new tools and techniques to improve the effectiveness of the supply chain organization. • Facilitate activities related to supplier development, performance, assessments and management including Bids and Proposals kick off meetings to evaluate new business opportunities, to optimize value delivered from suppliers and identify new suppliers; frequently as lead Supply Chain representative. • Develop and identify performance metrics and indicators to achieve desired goals and objectives per program’s needs. • Define and articulate key stakeholder needs as they relate to information reporting, analysis and distribution. • Evaluate known and potential supplier/sub-contractor needs and compare against known supplier/sub-contractor capabilities • Generate quantitative research and execution support in implementation of supply chain capabilities evaluation and process improvement initiatives. • Comply with government, corporate and business unit policies, procedures and regulations • Other duties as assigned • Travel required; some international.
Job Requirements: Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Engineering (preferred); or five to eight years related and recent experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education AND experience. Knowledge of ammunition manufacturing processes helpful. Prior experience in strategic development, program management or related experience desired. Prior experience in multi-cultural/multi-lingual environment helpful. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills with emphasis on strategic planning activities. Ability to work effectively in highly matrixed, team environment. Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, changing environment; adapt easily to new activities based on new information. Responds promptly to customer needs. Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles with a sense of urgency. Operates with the highest integrity, ethics and safety.
