Job Description:
Responsibilities: Will serve as a committed and vigorous advocate for the School of Mass Communication both on and off campus. Will have a broad and forward-looking perspective as well as appreciation of the varied nature of the disciplines within the mass communication field and use that knowledge to develop long-range school programs. Include the recruitment of faculty and administering the selection process, assigning faculty responsibilities such as teaching, research, and committee work, scheduling classes, fostering the development of each faculty member's special talents and interests and rewarding good teaching, stimulating faculty research and publications, encouraging faculty participation in regional and national professional meetings, evaluating faculty performance, providing for the free flow of information to faculty about school, college and firm plans, activities and expectations, and encouraging faculty to communicate ideas for improving the school. Supervises off-campus internship programs, assists admissions in recruiting students, advises students, and works with student organizations. Requirements: Ph.D. or terminal degree in mass communication, advertising, journalism, public relations or a related field, and college teaching experience. Preference will be given to applicants with work experience in the media.
