Job Description:
Responsibilities: - Develop effective working relationships with key audiences within and external to the firm, specifically board of directors, management team, program teams and other staff, grantee community, policy audiences, donors, media, consultants and colleagues in health and philanthropy. - Establish and promote a more prominent and visible brand for the firm. Align activities that reinforce the overall brand as well as individual focus areas on a continual basis. Maintain the public image of the firm and ensure its ethics and values are clearly and consistently portrayed. - Complete a thorough communications assessment, visualizing opportunities and seizing them. - Identify, prioritize and implement a comprehensive communications and public education strategy that articulates compelling messages about the values and mission of the firm and advances the health agenda. - Additionally, develop and implement crisis communication plans. - Develop and strengthen the firm's communications infrastructure and build capacity to allow the firm to be a communicating organization, internally and externally. - Ensure that the effective use of communications are central to the firm by integrating technology where appropriate and creating other vehicles for the staff to stay connected and informed. - Effectively engage and manage media relationships in support of the firm's strategic goals. Become a resource for the media on issues concerning public health. - Support the advocacy role of the firm. Immediately become politically aware in preparation for the upcoming legislative session by writing editorial pieces and building support for the firm's image and brand. - Establish relationships and partner with the grantees and other firm partnerships to provide support in developing collaborative communications including stories that collectively highlight the benefits and impact to the community.
