The Function Primarily to provide effective and timely review of applications related to conventional oil and gas reservoir development. Technical and policy development leadership will be required as an individual contributor as well as a team participant.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES •Technical (reservoir engineering) review of a wide variety of oil and gas reservoir development proposals involving reservoir management (enhanced oil and gas recovery, oil rate controls, concurrent oil and gas production), acid gas, waste and water disposal, gas storage, oil and gas zone commingling and experimental schemes. •Involvement in issues and applications related to industry-to-industry disputes or differences in interpretation, pool delineation, gas flaring, well testing and other evolving areas. •Conduct technical studies related to reservoir development. •Liaise with representatives from industry, the public and government during the application review process. •Coordinate hearings as required. •Participate on re-engineering initiatives. •Provide advice to other groups within the ERCB. •Provide guidance to staff in areas of reservoir engineering and ERCB policy and regulations.
The Individual •Engineering degree or technical diploma with a minimum of 12 years progressive related experience in oil and gas reservoir engineering. •Solid understanding of fundamental reservoir engineering concepts and methods. •Well developed organizational and analytical skills. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. •Ability to work independently and within a team environment. •High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. •Working knowledge of common business software. •Familiarity with energy related regulatory issues, and ERCB process and legislation would be an asset.
