Job Description: Under direction of Branch Manager or Unit Manager, lead a unit in producing a product of superior quality for Crawford & Company clients while meeting established production objectives and service standards. Responsibilities for the position include: assign work ensuring balanced workload for employees in unit; review all assignments seven days after creation or in accordance with service standards, continue to review futurity at appropriate intervals; if applicable, review reserves at least every thirty days and revise as necessary; review and correct outgoing reports; monitor production, review billing/daycards and monitor gains and losses on contract accounts; recruit, hire and evaluate performance of personnel as authorized by Branch Manager; train and develop new employees; recommend candidates for cross-training and advanced training; make marketing and sales calls; promote a good public image of the company; maintain up-to-date knowledge of licensing and regulatory requirements of industry and ensure compliance of employees in unit; encourage employees to pursue continuing education and monitor their completion of required courses; continue own personal development through continuing education and seminars; may maintain records such as sick leave, vacation, company car, expenses and budgets.
Job Requirements: High school diploma and at least two years college or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years previous experience as an adjuster with Liability, Property and Workers' Comp claims experience. Knowledge and skills required are: excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a fast paced office environment; analytical ability; good mathematical aptitude; good organizational and interpersonal skills; in-depth knowledge of insurance coverages, practices and negotiating skills; familiarity with legal, medical and technical disciplines; computer skills.
