Job Description:
The Network Software Specialist position involves creating and maintaining new software and database applications for internal tracking of deployed network equipment and resources, developing network software tools to monitor and diagnose remote network sites, and maintaining internal IT resources. A sample list of tasks include the following:
- Research network monitoring tools and open-source applications that can be used to remotely monitor live network sites
- Develop centralized monitoring server to collect data from remote networks and alert Network Operations to any emergent problems at those sites
- Maintain existing As-Built Database and add enhancements and new features as required by Network Operations, Project Management, Customer Service, and New Product Development
- Maintain internal corporate IT infrastructure.
Job Requirements:

- Linux Server Administration
- Windows 2003 Server Administration
- Open Source Linux networking tools (e.g. Nagios, Cacti)
- Microsoft Office
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Networking, or similar. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2 years in a corporate software development environment. Corporate IT environment or other corporate network experience strongly preferred.
