Job Description:
PFM is currently seeking entry-level professionals for Consultant positions. This position begins with extensive training in our Philadelphia and Harrisburg, PA offices. The initial training program includes two months of intense classroom preparation that provides our Consultants with the finance and computer skills required to excel in the financial advisory and investment management industries.
Consultants will be exposed to a demanding professional environment. They work with senior managers to service client relationships, perform portfolio analysis, develop new products, and assist in business development. Specific responsibilities may include: completing complex yield and cash flow analyses, security and portfolio level analytics, portfolio evaluation and reporting, and marketing presentations. Other duties include marketing support, research and presentation assistance in the Request for Proposals or contract process. Consultants will also support and work with trading professionals in executing fixed-income transactions under fast-paced market driven conditions. Opportunity for client contact is a key element of the Consultant experience. PFM Consultants gain a broad exposure to the public finance markets and a wide range of asset and asset/liability management products. PFM Consultants work with government officials, investment bankers, attorneys and other finance professionals to develop and implement investment strategies.
Over time, PFM Consultants may assume greater responsibility within a business group, or they may transfer to a regional client service/marketing office like Austin, Chicago, Orlando or San Francisco. Today, professionals who began as Consultants at PFM are senior marketing representatives, client service managers, senior product specialists and traders and portfolio managers - evidence that strong performers have the opportunity to pursue a diverse career path at PFM. After initial training all positions are located in Harrisburg, PA.
Job Requirements:
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree with a strong academic background (minimum GPA 3.25/4.00 preferred)
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and writing skills
- Interest in both public finance and investment management
- Interest in the financial markets
- Strong sense of ethical standards and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills
