Under minimal supervision, the Senior IS Manager is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the daily operations and activities of the Merchandising Applications Delivery team.
The IS Merchandising Team implements Retail Merchandising business and technologies solutions support business processes and to improve the efficiencies of daily operations. In order to achieve these objectives, the team deploys a set of technologies, based on industry best practices, to deliver new business processes and to re-design existing processes when appropriate to improve operational efficiencies and reduce cost. Key Technologies: Tomax, POS, Apollo, PL SQL, Java, Cobol, Oracle, Linux, Itanium, Eclipse, Subversion.
Job Requirements:
This role requires significant experience in the Retail industry with and knowledge of, at a minimum, the following retail merchandising systems: Management of items, Costs, Deals, Prices and Promotions, Price Optimization and Trade Revenue
You would need experience providing strategic direction for retail and ideally merchandising solutions by researching, designing, or enhancing existing technologies, including addressing the hardware and software needs for company-wide projects and initiatives. You will provide technical leadership for a mixed-level group of software development engineers. You must be adept at delegating and building trust with your internal customer, the Merchandising department, software developers, project managers, and peer software development and infrastructure teams. You must excel at working with and mentoring both junior and senior software developers, should have good intuition for and understanding of scalable operational processes and must also be able to work in a highly-demanding, but collegial environment where teamwork is crucial.
The position requires customer interfacing skills, a solid understanding of requirements, project prioritization, project planning and resource planning as well as including supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
You would need to:
• Understand and build Merchandising functional requirements and work with the business to build a comprehensive yearly and 3-year plan.
• Set, implement and enforce application system guidelines, processes and best practices, as recommended to and approved by IS Management team.
• Independently train and mentor staff team.
• Provide technical and administrative oversight of development of various software applications.
Minimum requirements: B.A or B.S. in Business Administration, Information Services or related field and 5 years experience in a progressively intensive management role. Experience in retail or merchandising is strongly preferred. Project Management and/or technical experience is a plus.
