Job Description:
Responsibilities include directing operations & activities, supervising assigned departmental staff, maintaining adequate staffing, establishing & implementing goals, & overseeing operations in all divisions of the department; making recommendations on planning matters to the Municipal Planning Commission, the Franklin Planning & Economic Development Committee & the Franklin Finance & Budget Committee; advising the Planning Commission pertaining to growth issues related to the City's Long Range Plan; advising the Planning Commission & on rezoning requests; making oral & written presentations to governmental bodies, private organizations & the public; guiding interactions with developers & the public; directing staff pertaining to subdivision plan & site plan review; overseeing amendments to the zoning ordinance & subdivision regulations; performing related intergovernmental cooperative work with County, State & Federal agencies; preparing department budget; serving as secretary for the Planning Commission; representing the Mayor on the Firmon County Economic Advisory Council & on the Metropolitan Planning Organization; representing the Planning Department, the City & the position of Planning Director on a number of committees & organizations. Minimum Qualifications: Master\'s degree in planning or land use required, with 6 - 9 years of planning, land use, design, research & supervisory experience.
