The Director has a wide range of influence and managerial responsibilities Leadership and support for the creation of the State Development Plan; Planning assistance to state agencies and in some instances local governments; State and local planning program review (water and sewer/annexation/ priority funding area/comprehensive plans); GIS planning services and support; Policy support for environmental conservation, land preservation, natural resources protection, recreation planning, Bay restoration efforts; Modeling support to MDP in anticipation of Maryland's future needs as they relate to growth and development. Socio-economic data and census data and products; Analysis of current and future growth trends at multiple geographies. Technical support for the Patuxent River Commission; Parcel and land use information for planning purposes Staffing and assistance to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor degree in Planning or closely related field. Experience: Nine years of planning experience with three years at management level. Preferred Qualifications: certification and experience with GIS and land use analysis concepts. Master\'s in Planning with eight years of planning experience three years at management level.
