Job Description:
Position: Serves as Deputy Chief, Operations Division and assists in directing the work of an organization comprised of professional, administrative, technical and Federal wage system employees. Also assists in directing operations activities throughout a seven state region that encompasses the Memphis District in support of major missions of flood control and navigation. Operations activities include revetment bank grading, concrete mattress loading and towing on part of the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers. Also includes pumping operations of three government owned pumping stations, dredging activities on the Mississippi River, eight shallow-draft inland harbors, and part of the White River. Interacts with three labor unions, one with exclusive recognition at the Memphis District; two having exclusive recognition. May be involved with negotiations over changes in working conditions, personnel policies, practices and procedures, and with grievances and unfair labor practices.
