Job Description:
About the Position: Chief, Firm is responsible for all geotechnical aspects of work performed for Firm Center. Work includes, but is not limited to analysis, preparation, and implementation of geotechnical design of soil and rock foundations of large, complex, and important military facilities; environmental investigation and evaluation for hazardous and toxic wastes at current and former military installations; geophysical investigation supporting hazardous waste studies; detection and recovery of buried military munitions; and water supply/groundwater availability studies. The Branch works closely with research and development organizations to improve shallow geophysical investigation technology. The Branch establishes field and laboratory test criteria and procedures; establishes geotechnical requirements; analyzes and evaluates reports and designs; assures compliance with established policy, technical requirements and regulatory criteria; and prepares supporting documentation.
