Job Description:
The successful in this position, you will need strong communication skills, the ability to articulate a vision of how the Firm will accomplish its mission, and the ability to take feedback from staff while empowering, motivating, and holding them accountable. As the Firm Chief, you will manage Firm functions through two main funds ¯the General Fund and the Utilities Fund ¯with a total staff of 170 employees and a $26 million annual budget. The primary programs within the General Fund include Street Maintenance, Storm Sewer Maintenance and Repair, and emergency responses related to opening roadways and storm drainage systems, particularly in response to weather events. Primary programs with the Utilities Fund are Water Purchase, Water Distribution, and Sanitary Sewer Maintenance and Repair. This is a diverse and dynamic mix of funds and programs that requires you, as the manager, to both effectively respond to the events of the day as well as continue to shape the Firm to meet changing needs and circumstances. In this position, you will represent the County on a wide range of engineering and operational issues, interacting with staff, contractors, vendors, citizens and representatives of state and other agencies.
