Job Description:
Responsibilities include: Planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing engineering Responsibilities in the production of Fairfax Water plans for transmission and distribution facilities. As a secondary function, the design of structural, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of various water supply facilities included in this position s Responsibilities. Planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing engineering Responsibilities in the production of plans for the relocation of existing transmission and distribution facilities. Conducting studies and making recommendations relating to special design, construction, material selections, operation and maintenance problems related to transmission and distribution facilities. Preparing and overseeing the preparation of specifications and standards for the bidding on various water supply pipelines, including the Water Main Installation and Service Contract. Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor s Degree in Civil and a minimum of eight years progressively responsible professional experience in the design of transmission and distribution facilities, including supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge. Additional Qualifications include: Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ability to plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of others. Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of civil engineering techniques related to the design and construction of public water transmission and distribution facilities. Ability to prepare specification, contract documents, and reports.
