Job Description:
DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Plan, supervise and participate in the design and preparation of plans and specifications for construction projects and other projects including streets, water mains, storm and sanitary sewers, curbs, trails and sidewalks, gutters, drainage facilities, building maintenance projects, bridges, viaducts and related appurtenances. Establishes streets and sewer grades. Supervise and participate in the inspection of construction projects to ensure that City specifications and standards are met. Consult with contractors, engineering consultants and representatives in carrying out projects. Responsible for the plans, specifications and contracts for capital improvement projects. Supervise and participate in the maintenance of city maps and engineering records; reviews and processes subdivision proposals and maps for conformance to established standards. Perform duties associated with providing information and reports to developers, contractors, engineers and public concerning projects. Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures as necessary; promote high morale. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in engineering and administration is required. A minimum of two years experience in an administrative supervisory capacity is required. Training: A bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering or a related field is required. Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska is required. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nebraska\'s driver's license.
