Job Description:
Director of Portfolio Accounting has primary responsibility for (1) the overall organization and administration of the Portfolio Accounting group, including budgeting, oversight of staffing and training, allocation of personnel resources and establishment of standards, policies and procedures, (2) coordination of the Portfolio Accounting activities with the activities of other business units, and (3) providing support to Portfolio Management and other business units on issues relating to Portfolio Accounting that are relevant to potential capital transactions and material portfolio management decisions. Management of Portfolio Accounting group and provide support to Portfolio Management. Responsibilities Manage staffing and training. Establish policies and procedures. Ensure timely and accurate preparation and delivery of monthly financial reports. Coordinate external audit for all property, middle tier and fund entities. Coordinate all tax planning and compliance. Support the Capital Transaction Group, review all purchase/sale agreements, loan agreements and entity agreements. Communicate with the Capital Markets, Portfolio Manager and Asset Managers. Managing Others Management, leadership, coaching and training of staff. Qualifications 10-12 years of accounting experience. Minimum 5 years experience in managing a successful accounting function. Experience with national accounting firm highly desirable. Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) designation required. REITs, investment funds, and partnership tax returns highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university. Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) or Masters (M.A.) in Accounting or Finance highly desirable. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and complex accounting software programs.
