Job Description/Duties/Responsibilities:
The Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD)
program requires a senior electrical test engineer
for the Launch Site Components Team at
Huntsville, Al. This engineer must plan, coordinate,
and execute Silo components preparation for flight
testing and operational deployment of the
interceptor missile assembly and its systems,
including both ground and flight systems. Duties
include test and maintenance procedure
preparation, providing technical direction to an
integration and test team (technicians, design
engineers, safety, quality), identifying and resolving
non-conforming systems and components,
providing status and recommendations to
management, and maintaining/
repairing/upgrading electrical and electro-
mechanical systems to ensure each system under
this engineer's control is ready for each missile
processing cycle. Travel will be required to
locations such as Vandenberg Air Force Base or Fort
Greely Alaska. Off shift and overtime may be
required to meet schedule.
Job Required Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
Experience and knowledge of testing of missile
systems. Ability to instrument test articles; conduct
testing; acquire test data; prepare, analyze, and
report results in the area of electrical/electronic
subsystems, components, or missile system. Flight
test and/or test conductor experience preferred.
Experience with flight hardware assembly and
testing, operating and maintaining flight
termination systems, ordnance, computer systems
(software and hardware), electrical (power & data)
systems, guidance/ navigation/ control systems, RF
communications, and command & telemetry
systems is preferred. Experience with the specific
GMD related ground and vehicle systems are
preferred.
Experience Required:
A minimum 13 years’ equivalent engineering
experience.
Education Required:
Requires educational credentials meeting the
classification standards for engineers. Professional
certification(s) a plus.
