Job Description:
As a Site Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the proactive monitoring of snapfish.com as well as our cobranded/partner sites. You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving our uptime record and performance, monitoring network health, handling both planned and unplanned events, and planning for and executing capacity and capabilities growth as Snapfish expands. Help to improve our current monitoring, procedures, issue handling, and site reliability. You will work hand-in-hand with the IT, Development and Release Management to ensure that the Snapfish family of sites is always available for millions of users and partners. Qualifications Requirements: BA/BS in a technical discipline 3 + years experience as a Linux Systems Administrator; 2+ years working on a 24x7 operations team. Work experience in a large-scale, heterogeneous web environment is a requirement. 3+ years hands-on experience in Linux/Solaris and Web technologies including Apache/Tomcat, Firm and log4j. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and familiarity with SMTP, HTTP and DNS protocols. 3+ years experience with site monitoring tools (Nagios, Sitescope etc), performance measuring, and scripting Strong Perl or Shell scripting skills a major plus 2+ years of SQL experience Excellent trouble shooting skills Passion and drive for operational excellence Ability to develop and document repeatable operational procedures. Ability to plan and execute routine maintenance outages, with a premium on minimizing risk and application downtime
