Job Description:
Responsibilities: - Non-linear predictive modeling; statistical pattern recognition. - Utilize understanding and experience in assessing data quality and data feature selection for protein expression and DNA polymorphism data. - Apply machine learning techniques (e.g., kernel-based methods) to clinical data sets for development of algorithms and use conventional biostatistics (e.g., Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, Cox proportional hazards, etc.) to test performance. - Evaluate data collected as part of ongoing clinical trials as well as mining of data submitted to and available from the FDA. - Interface with the FDA on relevant topics. - Create statistical text for study concept documents and protocols (study design, endpoints, sample size/power study, methods for analysis). - Develop and maintain standardized statistical approaches and methodology. - Utilize independent project management skills to ensure timely and reliable results. - Manage and direct the work of one or more institutions/consultants to achieve timely project deliverables Report to: The Chief Executive Officer. Requirements: - A PhD in a computational science field (e.g. Mathematics or Statistics), or a life science field (e.g. Molecular Biology or Cell Biology) with extensive experience in bioinformatics/computational biology is required. - 4 years of experience in the field with a proven successful track record in analysis and algorithm development on highly complex genomic/proteomic datasets both large and small. - Experience with statistical modeling including some or all of the following: linear and non-linear predictive feature selection and algorithm development, parametric and non-parametric techniques, statistical pattern recognition. - Experience with mathematical modeling and a variety of software packages. - Strong programming skills in MatLab, R and/or SAS, C/C++, Perl, mySQL, and PHP
