Job Description:
Responsibilities: Provide individual counseling services to students on a wide range of personal and academic issues such as personal adjustment, interpersonal relations, couple/family relations, depression, victimization in sexual/physical assault, anxiety, educational goals and social/behavioral adjustment. Provide group counseling services to students. Provide structured or support groups in areas such as eating disorders, substance abuse, etc., as related to student need and interest. Provide crisis intervention counseling and rotate 24 hour on-call responsibility with other counseling center staff. Administer and interpret appropriate psychological testing and assessment techniques to foster self-understanding and decision making. Provide outreach programs to address developmental concerns of students on topics such as substance abuse, stress management, men's/women's issues, coping skills and related issues. Assist as requested in the training and program development of residence hall staff members, peer educators, peer tutors, student advisors, and others. Provide clinical supervision to staff psychologists, counselors, and graduate practicum/intern students. Consult as needed with all members of the academic community on psychological and mental health wellness issues.
