Job Description:
Reports to: Assistant Director of Client Services RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist victims of domestic violence: o Conduct intake, assessment, and crisis intervention services; o Provide ongoing empowerment counseling; o Explain options and rights, including emergency shelter, provide referrals, and support clients in their choices; o Advocate for and accompany women to seek criminal and civil legal assistance, when appropriate. Supervise counseling and case management staff as assigned: o Provide clinical supervision o Assist in day-to-day task supervision o Provide emergency consultation to staff in crisis cases o Hire and train supervisees, and take disciplinary actions whenever necessary Provide weekly clinical supervision to interns in M.S.W program Prepare case notes and program notes as needed. Provide office coverage and emergency back-up for hotline on a rotational basis in coordination with other staff. Represent NYAWC in outreach/community education events. Various projects/tasks that arise depending on needs of the program. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in Social Work required plus one (1) year counseling experience, preferably in the area of violence against women and/or in the Asian community. Supervisory/Management experience required. Bilingual in English and an Asian language strongly preferred. Ability to work well with others. Self-directing, highly motivated, and organized.
