Job Description:
The Residential Counselor is part of a team of professionals and volunteers that supports the mission of Boys Hope Girls Hope to help academically capable and motivated children-in-need to meet their full potential and become men and women for others by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college.The Residential Counselor is responsible for directing the operations of the home to create a family atmosphere that supports the development of the full child. They perform their duties relatively free from direct supervision, acting at all times in a professional manner.Working Conditions:This position is focused primarily upon serving the scholars of the program through advancing the mission of the organization. The position requires living in the home in support of the goal of creating a family-like atmosphere, and the development of positive, committed relationships. The position requires annual participation in continuing education, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, satisfied through in-house programs offered by Boys Hope Girls Hope or third party providers. The position will have at least an annual performance evaluation. While working within a home team schedule, staff will be required to be flexible with regard to the 24 hour, seven day a week needs of the Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars. Other Information About This Job: Applicants must have one of the following: A Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education or a related field and the equivalent of one year full-time work with a similar population or a High School Diploma (some college preferred) and at least two years full-time experience working with this population.
