With operations in Brandon, Manitoba, growth has fueled the need for a Maintenance General Supervisor.
The Maintenance General Supervisor will oversee the duties of the maintenance supervisors and the maintenance staff to address day-to-day equipment and process challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise a Maintenance Department within a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment. Ensure that capital equipment is managed properly to ensure trouble-free and on-time manufacturing. Write Standard Operating Procedures and codes as required. Oversee union and employee-relations issues including health and safety. Manage production requirements and day-to-day equipment operating issues by ensuring open and effective communications with the Maintenance Supervisors, maintenance staff and all other departments within the plant. Manage the Preventative Maintenance Program ensuring all work orders are addressed in order of priority. Oversee emergency breakdown repairs with the maintenance team to ensure repairs are completed expeditiously and provide documents and execute plans to minimize future breakdown time. Continuous support for the Maintenance Supervisor and provide suggestions to continuously improve maintenance resources (staff, equipment, inventory), process and efficiencies against standard. Continuous achievement, support and commitment towards the Six Sigma principles. Develop, lead and coach employees through effective training and communication. Motivate employees to high performance through reinforcement and recognition Manage various contracted services. Ensure compliance with plant environmental regulations, and plant safety relating to equipment. Ensure that the computerized maintenance management system is being used to optimize the efficiency of the department and budget. Manage and report on maintenance budget. Ensure effective implementation of Master Brand and Safety initiatives. Manage and prioritize projects as requested to maintain plant production. All other duties as required by the Maintenance Manager. Preferred Hiring Criteria Degree in engineering, Technologist Diploma or Journeyman Tradesperson designation or a combination of experience and education. At least 5+ years maintenance management experience in a fast paced food or manufacturing plant with demonstrated outstanding results in maintenance. Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing of existing and new equipment Motivated, confident and disciplined to maintain consistency and to improve maintenance procedures and practices of the plant. Significant management experience in industrial maintenance or related fields Experience with food processing, CFIA, HACCP, Continuous Improvement Process, Six Sigma would be an asset. Must be able to work flexible shifts to ensure accountability for all necessary maintenance troubleshooting Proven progressive management and leadership skills Effective written and oral communication skills
