Key Requirements: Subject to financial disclosure requirements. Requires a supervisory probationary period if not already completed. Requires a valid drivers license. Subject to frequent travel. Major Duties: The incumbent serves as an expert in the field of mine waste handling and disposal. In addition, he or she must possess expert and authoritative knowledge in at least one of the following areas of responsibility: Dam construction and operation, geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, structural engineering, surface haulage, and mining under or near bodies of water. It should be noted that work can be assigned in any area of responsibility. Incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing work done in all areas of Division responsibility. The incumbent will develop engineering guidelines that can be used in support of MSHA enforcement programs. In addition, he or she will be responsible for improving engineering methods for conducting surface and underground mine investigations as they relate to areas of Division responsibility
