Job Description:
Status: Professional Exempt
SUMMARY: To be an integral part of a team dedicated to the design, fabrication and optimization of small scale SOFC units. Responsibilities will include the mechanical design and integration of solid oxide fuel cell stack, Balance of Plant, and Electronic Control components to support product development objectives. The Systems Engineer will interface with management, customer, engineering, and development to plan and lead coordinated project activities.
Required Functions:
* SOFC System Design experience
* Machine Design experience
* 3-D CAD, GD&T experience
* Chemical/Process design experience
* Experience with Design, Test, and Debug of electro-mechanical systems
* Knowledge of fundamental material science principles
* Knowledge of fundamental heat transfer principles
* Experience in Microsoft Office package (incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
* Must be able to operate in a small team with a minimum of supervision
* Participates in weekly experimental planning discussions in regard to status of work in progress
* Generates regular progress reports and collate relevant advances in field
* Complies with laboratory, State and Federal health, safety, fire and environmental policies
* Good Organizational and Planning skills
* Actively participates in safety awareness and Incident Investigations as assigned
* Works overtime as required
Desired Functions:
* Experience in new product development
* Knowledgeable of Military and Commercial Product standards
* Proven Project Leadership experience
* Experience in SolidWorks

* Minimum requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5-7 years direct experience in SOFC system design or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years direct experience
