This individual will take a leadership role for outsourcing on Drug Metabolism and Pharmaco Kinetics (DMPK) for Merck Research Laboratories. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: facilitating development of the sourcing strategy by integrating scientific and business requirements; coordinating the management of all outsourcing projects and external partner relationship management within DMPK; identifying and evaluating new outside vendors and capabilities; budgetary responsibilities to include: providing input to senior management during the LROP and Profit Plan processes, providing EAs to financial services as requested; and providing monthly and quarterly written updates to management as well as participating in senior level internal meetings to prioritize the use of external resources. May involve supervision of project managers/coordinators. 1. Strategy Development ? Partnering with stakeholder senior management (VP/department head) to develop multi-year strategic source plans for scientific area of responsibility by understanding and integrating scientific and business requirements. 2. External Marketplace ? Responsible for monitoring the external market in scientific area of responsibility and providing guidance to stakeholders on market maturity and the potential to source specific capabilities and scientific functions within your own scientific area and across other scientific areas. 3. Project Management ? Lead or facilitate group's management of projects with external vendors under minimal supervision. Ensure supplier understands and is prepared to meet Merck expectations. Closely monitor by teleconference, videoconference, e-mail and face to face meetings the projects to ensure all requirements (timeline, budget and scientific) will be met. Responsible for maintaining internal records on progress of projects and keeping internal stakeholders up to date on progress.
