Job Description:
The Deputy Director is responsible for assisting with the managing, directing, planning and supervising the activities of the Public Works Department. The Department of Public Works is composed of seven Divisions: Administration, Central Garage, Engineering, Facilities & Grounds, Roads & Drainage, Solid Waste and Stormwater. This position is under the broad policy guidance and direction of the Director of Public Works. This position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with 6 to 8 years of management experience in public works or related field or equivalent combination of training or experience. The incumbent must have or be able to attain a South Carolina Professional Engineering Registration License within 6 months of employment. This position supervises the Infrastructure Focus Area with three major divisions, including Engineering, Roads & Drainage and Stormwater Management, with direct supervision of three or more employees along with indirect supervision of more than 100 employees.
