Job Description: The Assistant Finance Director reports to the Finance Director. Requires development of an intimate working knowledge of the automated integrated financial system; development and implementation of fiscal policies and procedures; oversight of financial statement preparation and annual audit; making recommendations to the Finance Director and City Manager for financial and budgetary decisions, priority setting and political impacts; considerable knowledge of management principles and practices as applied to the direction of a large central accounting organization; considerable knowledge of and experience with effective supervision of staff; ability to plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinate managers and supervisors. Knowledge of general and municipal accounting, auditing, budgeting, treasury and tax collection principals and procedures is preferred.
