Job Description:
As Supervisor Geotechnical Design Section, the incumbent has the responsibility for all geotechnical soils and civil work performed including the planning, directing and performance of all soils investigations; providing site layouts and making recommendations to other planning and design groups on earth foundations; prepares design memoranda, special reports, and plans and specifications for flood control works, levees, road and railroad relocations, earthwork excavation, etc. Performs reconnaissance surveys and field investigations. Plans and exercises technical control over the soils exploration and testing program. Performs inspections to ensure that construction is being performed in accordance with design criteria, contract plans and specifications. Plans and directs piezometer, settlement gauge and similar instrumentation installations in earth structures. Servces as Contracting Officers Representative on consultant contracts. Performs the full ractly related to this occupation. Once basic requirement is met, applicants must have one year of specialized experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience in the planning, directing and performance of geotechnical soils investigations, soils exploration, field investigations, site layouts and testing for construction. This experience should include the planning, design, construction and operation of such major features such as large earth and rockfill dams and/or minor projects such as fish hatcheries, small flood control dams, and local flood protection works.
