Job Description:
Responsibilities 1. Develops short and long-term goals and objectives for the department. Develops and administers department budget, policies and procedures. Designs, implements and evaluates methods to improve the quality, extent, and efficiency of a comprehensive pharmacy service. Directs project work including audits connected with medical staff and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.2. Maintains compliance with hospital policies and procedures and with applicable local, state, federal and accreditation regulations. Ensures that quality assurance measures are observed and appropriate records are maintained.3. Directs and coordinates purchasing, receiving, pricing, storing and dispensing of all hospital pharmaceuticals. Maintains inventory, records and files regarding drugs and pharmaceuticals; maintains control of narcotics and other controlled substances.4. Manages the department´s human resource program. Supervises five or more employees. Trains new employees and monitors their progress. Supports and reinforces the employee´s performance through the performance planning and appraisal system. Directs the professional and educational activities of the department. Conducts meetings with staff in order to review new techniques, explains changes in procedures, discuss problems and exchange information.5. Attends continuing education programs to maintain credentials, contacts and influence in the Pharmacy profession.
