Job Description:
You will deliver direct nursing care to high-acuity patients and perform high-risk procedures such as conscious sedation, lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsy. In addition, you will manage telephone triage and supervise the patient care services provided by assistive personnel.This position works collaboratively with physicians and mid-level providers and allied health staff, as well as with external health care providers and entities. A certain amount of on-call responsibility outside the regular Clinic hours will, at times, be involved.The Division of Hematology Oncology therapy unit is a 33 chair outpatient unit on the Scottsdale campus. All types of chemotherapy regimens are given in the unit. Many patients are on research protocols, including a thriving Phase 1 program. The unit is open Monday - Friday from 7am to 5:30pm. Staffing is based on acuity of the patients due to the complexity of our patient population. Collaborative relationships exist with our Physicians, pharmacy, social services and various other departments involved in the care of Oncology patients. Candidates must have at least three years of RN experience in a clinical setting and two years as a supervisor in an ambulatory or acute care setting. Current and continued BLS competency is required. Strong leadership qualities and skills. Possesses problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to work flexible hours. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
