Job Description:
Examples Of Essential Duties: This position coordinates the owner occupied housing rehabilitation process between the implementing agency and the City procured housing inspector; completes preliminary assessment of housing units to determine requirements needed to bring property up to City codes; assists in the inspection of housing structures to determine feasibility for rehabilitation; inspects residential structures to determine rehababilitative work required to correct property in accordance with adopted rehabilitation standards; inspects rehabilitation work for compliance with workmanship standards, specifications, codes, property rehabilitation standards, and construction payment disbursements; ensures contractor possesses proper permits for applicable housing rehabilitation work; reviews cost estimates to ensure that property repairs are not excessive; responds to complaints and concerns related to construction and serves as a mediator to resolve complaints and other concerns with program participants; conducts pre-construction conferences with homeowners, agency representatives, and contractors to determine work specifications and participant's expectations of the program; prepares progress reports on the status of each assisted housing unit and associated paperwork; makes recommendations based on need, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness of each project; performs related job duties. Typical Qualifications: Persons applying must have a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Building Construction/Technology, Architecture or related field and three years of progressively responsible cost estimation, contract management, or construction management, experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license at the time of appointment. License must remain valid while in this classification.
