Job Description:
The Institute is headquartered in Washington, DC, and has campuses in Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River near the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Its international network includes partner Aspen Institutes in Berlin, Rome, Lyon, Tokyo, New Delhi, and Bucharest, and leadership initiatives in Africa, Central America, and India. Communications: The Communications Department is responsible for reporting on the broad work of the Institute both internally and externally, conducting media relations and supporting all branches of the Institute with written materials such as the Institute\'s magazine, books, reports, brochures, and more. The team also works to attract external editorial coverage of the Institute\'s work and assists with the planning and execution of special events and public programs.Manage and plan the editorial of The Aspen Idea, the Institute\'s biannual magazine. Write and edit articles and feature stories, make assignments on both short and long stories, conduct interviews, work with Institute departments to collect story submissions, work with designers and production group on layout and art direction, check facts, send audio out for transcriptions, and more. Draft written materials such as brochures, news releases, newsletters, fact sheets, bios, and related correspondence. Edit and write Institute development brochures and other publications for Institute departments, including program books and event-related materials. Work with web team to update content on Institute\'s homepage, authoring items and captions. Attend as needed Institute programs, meetings, conferences, and other functions as a reporter for the magazine and web. Manage photography of Institute events and programs; hire photographers and coordinate photography schedule. Manage the Institute\'s photography stock. Support Communications department in overall strategy and event plans. Edit and produce printed materials for major Institute events as needed before and during the event Provide writing and editorial support for departmental products including press releases, press kits, programs, brochures, and other written materials.
