Modis has been tasked by one of their most respected clients to identify the following due to growth. Located in Toronto, ON, our client is looking for an Application Software Development Manager.
EMPLOYMENT DURATION: Contract
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The application software development manager is accountable for managing a development group in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of applications to ensure and/or maintain alignment with the lines of business (LOBs) strategies. The application software development manager is also accountable for the on-time, on-budget completion of project deliverables, adhering to standards, such as capability maturity model integration (CMMI), international organization for standardization (ISO), and information technology infrastructure library (ITIL).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify opportunities and provides recommendations by communicating strategies and designs to senior management
• Defines and documents application architecture to ensure adherence to enterprise standards and alignment to the technical strategies
• Prioritizes and coordinates development team activities for multiple initiatives of varying complexity in order to meet client demands while maintaining defined service level agreements (SLAs) and technical stewardship over platform applications
• Leads the selection process of required development, testing, and implementation tools, involving input from three relevant development support groups, development technology services (DTS) or development support, infrastructure group, and, if required, enterprise architecture, in order to provide the final tool selection recommendation to the technology head
• Communicate with third party vendors to understand and validate the vendor technical architectures to ensure they are aligned with the enterprise standards and are well understood by employees
• Leads in software development process action teams and contributes to the continuous improvement of the software development life cycle (SDLC) processes to improve/optimize organizational processes for the overall effectiveness of the development team
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have functional management experience, software development experience (SDLC), 7x24 support experience and working in project centric environment.
• Must have experience with Java development, transitional public facing websites, and financial services
• Possesses a university degree/college diploma in applied technologies and/or 10+ years experience in state-of-the-art financial application development with expert business knowledge
• Expert project management experience
• Extensive practical experience in application development and/or client solution delivery
• Expert knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes from both an industry and bank perspective
• Expert understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), quality assurance requirements, and software development control and release procedures
• Possesses an expert ability to manage multiple projects high in complexity and of strategic importance
