Job Description:
GSK already has an active role with the FDA and EMEA and this role will continue that relationship in working with these agencies in developing their understanding of genetic information and how it will be used and tested in practice. 5. Manage, support and promote existing relationships with funding agencies, government bodies and academic groups to promote the discovery and translational use of GSK patient samples. 6. Develop and promote new public/private relationships in project-relevant genetic effects on drug response and safety to maximize the discovery and development of new medicines in GSK. 7. Develop a plan for access, coordination and integration of clinical and genetic data from large-scale, population-based medical and health-care repositories (e.g, HMOs, UK-NHS, biobanks, other public, private and nationalized health-care initiatives). 8. Develop and maintain real-time relationships with technology leaders to evaluate and, where appropriate, integrate or outsource novel experimental procedures that facilitate genetic applications in drug discovery and development. 9. Conduct periodic strategic evaluations of new genetics technologies and discoveries (e.g., epigenetics, miRNAs, CNVs) in their relevance to ongoing and planned clinical trials and applications to marketed compounds. 10. Develop and implement TA-focused plans for combined applications of biomarkers and genetic factors. 11. Identify and coordinate new opportunities relevant to the Statistical Genetics development and Therapy-Area applications groups for implementation. Accountability: 1. Work closely with government bodies, funding agencies and KOL groups to identify, evaluate and document new and existing opportunities for genetics in clinical development and assessment of marketed medicines. 2. Managerially and operationally responsible for the recruitment, retention, management, and development of senior multi-disciplinary staff comprising scientists, commercial evaluation experts, and others. 3.
