Job Description:
Lead the development of a DMPK research strategy and advise senior management on the feasibility of the strategy and project portfolio advancement. · Manage and lead a growing team Recruit, attract and maintain a high-caliber DMPK staff; Develop and mentor them as a team of scientists (PhD and BS/MS). · Establish and maintain processes by which new technology opportunities can be identified and assessed; partner effectively with Global DMPK, CROs and Academic Institutions in this effort. · Propose each year a resource plan and budget for DMPK that will ensure that the group maintains effective project support and an internationally competitive position. · Develop contacts within the AstraZeneca Global R&D community; enable exchange of scientific development information within the AstraZeneca community. Qualifications Skills and Qualifications: · A PhD in a DMPK relevant discipline with significant experience in drug discovery and/or development in the pharmaceutical industry with an emphasis on Discovery DMPK. · Strong experience in managing PhD and BS/MS research teams in industry at a senior level. · A thorough understanding of what it takes for a drug candidate to advance through the discovery process and into development. Experience in anti-infectives and oncology projects a strong plus. · A practical understanding of all areas of DMPK, including computational, in vitro screening and pharmacokinetics. · Demonstrated success in delivering drugs by having hands-on experience in advancing a candidate into the clinic. · Project experience with an ability to influence decision-making at the portfolio level. · An understanding of clinical drug profiles and the ability to effectively communicate requirements to discovery and development teams. · Experience interacting and influencing diverse groups and disciplines across the organization.
