Job Description:
The plant is a union environment; candidates must be open to any shift, including a rotating 24/7 shift. The strong candidate will act quickly to troubleshoot quality/manufacturing problems, providing accurate diagnosis so that the mechanical team can resolve problems quickly. You will also have opportunities to contribute to Lean Six Sigma projects and the opportunity to advance to lead supervisor in 2 to 3 years. Anticipate promotion to Production Manager in smaller plant and relocate for an opportunity in 3 to 5 years. Main Responsibilities: Selects, trains, develops, retains, recognizes, & manages Line Operators, Mixers & Material Handlers; prepares qualified candidates for personal succession. Maintains a safe work environment & implements Safety Management System. Manages daily manufacturing operations of lines or shifts to ensure the manufacturing plan is executed in a manner that meets or exceeds quality & cost objectives. Ensures the plant is in compliance with all internal & external standards & legislation. Achieves annual TQM plans for shift/department. Communicates & reinforces plant plans in area of responsibility. Provides formal & informal reporting on plant performance & issues. Ensures that Quality system is followed. Ensures products produced meet specifications. Resolves quality, service & cost issues. Generates & implements ideas that improve quality indicators to support cost, investment & service goals. Implements Lean concepts & practices. Basic Qualifications: 4-year Chem E, Mech E, Elec E, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Math degree. 0-3 years process manufacturing experience. 0-3 years manufacturing supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications: Chem E degree and 3 years manufacturing experience in related industry strongly preferred. Proven communication and leadership skills; strong computer literacy.
