Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES Formulating environmental, health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Consulting on design and use of equipment; recommending corrective safety measures where indicated. Administering the worker?s compensation program, including working with insurance carriers, doctors, therapists, claims handlers and surveillance personnel to reduce employee lost work time, minimize costs and control fraudulent or unjust claims. Communicating worker?s compensation claim information and incident rates to supervisors and managers on a monthly basis to facilitate injury prevention and safety improvements. Implementing an industrial accident investigation program that includes supervisor/manager training and inspection forms development. Inspecting severe accident scenes to determine cause and the potential future hazards. Assisting in the development of workstation improvements and potential preventive corrective actions. Conducting informational meetings and training sessions to satisfy regulatory requirements and promote general safety concepts and safety consciousness. Developing and providing training for regulatory compliance programs that can be implemented by location managers and/or supervisors, including but not limited to: safety orientation; hearing conservation; respiratory protection; hazard communication; electrical safety (lockout/tagout); chemical safety and process safety management; material handling and powered industrial vehicle permits; personal protective equipment; emergency response planning; and first aid response personnel.
