Job Description:
The staff consists of highly qualified scientists, and environmental protection specialists who are knowledgeable in relevant aspects of environmental, regulatory, and nonregulatory control and contributes to the development of pesticide related environmental programs. Directs staff in the policy and objectives of environmental programs. Provides leadership to the staff and to the states within the Region in setting and accomplishing priorities established through environmental laws and Agency regulations. Coordinates the activities of the staff to provide the most effective programs possible. Develops and implements strategies for implementing the environmental programs by influencing the state directions and state priority activities through strong partnerships with local, state and federal agencies. Provides broad administrative, technical and program direction and guidance to staff and/or cross media teams. Negotiates agreements and explains program priorities, activities, plans and other program actions. Makes recommendations on the resource needs of the program including the development of budget documents and work plans. Determines goals and objectives that need additional emphasis, recommends best approach or solution for resolving budget shortages and plans for short range staffing needs. Represents the program and the states in the Region in national workgroup activities in the direction taken on national regulations, policies and budgets. Plans the work of the Section and assures implementation of goals and objectives for the assigned programs, ensuring that available resources are employed in the most effective manner.
