Job Description:
We are looking for an individual with an accomplished scholarly record in mathematics and an outstanding record of mathematics teaching that includes at least five years of full time college/university experience in the United States. The mission of the Center for Undergraduate Education is to look at current ways and to explore and implement new ways in which mathematics and mathematicians can interact with students. This includes: providing an exciting learning environment through inspiring role models, dedicated teaching, ideas to create a stimulating classroom environment, and attractive social atmospheres, continuously updating courses (including lower division courses and in particular calculus) and academic programs according to the students\' preparation, the relevance for their majors and career goals, and as warranted by innovations in the sciences, in technology and in mathematics, collaborating with other (downstream) units on campus, education offices, institutions and organizations in the State (and beyond) to promote and emphasize the role of STEM fields, and in particular of the mathematical sciences, and, last but not least, continuously interacting with research mathematicians about progress of the field and its applications to sciences, engineering, social sciences and technology. The Director of the Center will collaborate with faculty in the Department, departmental committees, other departments and colleges and stakeholders across the State to accomplish this mission.
