KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Thorough knowledge and understanding of: the California Education Code and the laws which affect the CSU and AIRS policies, as well as legal issues impacting fitness programs (ADA and risk management) and health foundations; modern management and administrative techniques related to the development and implementation of appropriate methods of work planning, scheduling and coordination in a team environment to meet changing organizational objectives and to insure the accomplishment of all work in a timely and effective manner; the principles, practices and procedures of program development and management of recreation, sports, and physical health activities programs; designing and managing recreation, sports, physical activities/education programs. Working knowledge of fitness center and other sports equipment. General knowledge of Macintosh/PC personal computer software for business functions; especially spreadsheet, database, word processing applications and e-mail.Ability to: possess analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills work creatively and independently communicate effectively orally and in writing; work effectively and interdependently in a diverse university environment; plan, organize, manage, direct and train others in the formation and maintenance of activities, programs and fitness; administer and forecast budgets; design support programs to meet organizational objectives; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse community groups and service providers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Equivalent to the possession of a master's degree from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of five (5) years professional experience in intercollegiate athletic programs, development and management of wellness based recreation, sports and/or physical activities programs, or equivalent.
