Job Description:
The program revolves around a cognitive-behavioral approach to the acquisition of social skills. The position will provide supervision to youth counselors responsible for implementing treatment plans, counseling, and directing the behavior of youth offenders. Duties include training and monitoring staff and serves as case manager and treatment team leader. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior, child & adolescent development, family systems, individual& group counseling, crisis intervention techniques, etiology of junvenile delinquency & empirically based methods of treatment. Considerable knowledge of organization and operation of treatment programs for offenders, NC Juvenile Court System, criminal justice standards along with practical application of a variety of counseling techniques and approaches. Knowledge and understanding of group cultures and challenges to treatment. Ability to assess clients, formulate goals, and communicate effectively. Training and Experience Requirements Four-year degree in a human services field and three years of counseling experience with juveniles in a therapeutic environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degree must be received from an accredited institution.
