Job Description:
Annual salary will be pro-rated based on 10 month appointment. The residential life trainer position does not work during the summer months. Work schedule is Sunday - Thursday 2:00 pm - 11:30 pm with some flexibility. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Two years of experience working with deaf or hard of hearing children; ability to communicate using sign language; ability to manage students behavior, general knowledge of principles and practices guiding the care of deaf or hard of hearing middle school age students, and communication with the students parents and other paraprofessionals. A valid North Carolina driver s license. Physical requirements (ADA) Ability to climb stairs and walk students to and from the school; ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Training and Experience Requirements Graduation from high school and two years of experience in an age appropriate child care setting; or in a goaled program setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Management prefers: Proficiency in sign language; specific experience with students with additional disabilities other than deafness, and knowledge of non- violent crisis intervention. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
