Job Description:
Responsible for developing overall optical performance requirements based on science drivers of each astronomical instrument. Responsible for leading the conceptual and detailed design, performance analysis, tolerance analysis, procurement, and optical integration activities for astronomical instrumentation projects. Works with mechanical engineering team and oversees opti-mechanical design processes, and provides feedback to achieve desired goals. Initiates and conducts optical alignment performance testing or the optical systems instruments. Responsible for optical design, analysis, integration and testing of complex optical systems. Accountable for specifying and procuring optical components and monitoring vendors. Develops and executes integration and test plans.

Job Requirements:
