Job Description & Experience: Civil Service Title: Administrative Staff Analyst Office Title: Associate Director Division: Disease Control/Public Health Laboratory Salary: $56,158 - $149,791 The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's, Public Health Laboratory (PHL) is seeking an experienced, talented, and highly-motivated manager to oversee the Microbiology section. The PHL is one of the largest public health reference laboratories in the country and , with a staff of over 200, provides state-of-the-art laboratory testing for health care organizations, patients, environmental samples and agents that may be related to bio or chemical-terrorism. Joining the PHL's management team, and under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner, duties will include; formulating and implementing operational policies goals, objectives and programs related to the Division of Microbiology. Overseeing a large staff of professional microbiologists working in areas of clinical and environmental microbiology, including: mycobacteriology, parasitology, enteric and general bacteriology, molecular STD, and special agents that may be related to bioterrorism. Working in a dynamic management team environment in developing and implementing new protocols related to testing and quality assurance. Representing the PHL at local, state and national meetings.
