The US Army Corps of Engineers provides for navigation, flood and hurricane protection, environmental stewardship, and other water resources needs to benefit the people of Southern Louisiana and the nation. Duty station is New Orleans, La, a city currently recovering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The offices are located in a modern energy efficient building in a secure area in the Uptown section of New Orleans on the levee overlooking the Mississippi River. There is a fitness center within the district building. Audubon Park is within walking distance. There is free employee parking and a child care center located on the grounds.
