Job Description:
Partnership for the Great Lakes. Develops short and long-range plans to further the Society's strategic objectives for the Great Lakes Restoration Program, including scientific capacity, policy and partnerships with other institutions and colleagues throughout the Great Lakes Basin to define key messages, and develops implementation strategies to engage the public and promote citizen participation in Great Lakes issues. Represents the institution at Chicago Wilderness and other regional conservation networks, actively pursuing opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with like-minded institutions and individuals to further the Society's interests and objectives. Works with the Senior VP of Conservation, Education and Training (CET), and CET managers to develop and implement departmental operating plans, goals, and budgets. Assists in key decisions and implements priorities for education programs. Builds on existing models and programs and recommends new programs and initiatives as needed to accomplish strategic objectives. Actively seeks support from diverse funding sources. Provides science-based public comments or legislative proposals and agency rule-making processes, working with CZS public policy staff. Assists with developing on-site and off-site local/regional conservation activities, interpretives, and exhibits to engage staff and public including those requested through Master Planning. Collaborates with other CZS staff to identify and support local and regional conservation initiatives. Informs master planning initiatives as appropriate. Working with the Development Department, the candidate is expected to aggressively seek financial support from diverse funding sources, developing proposals and implementing strategies for fund-raising. It is expected that these fund-raising efforts will sustain 100% of program expenses the first 3 years. Represents the Society externally to other institutions, conservation societies.
