Job Description:
The selected individuals will have the opportunity to have one-on-one instruction with senior leaders within Merck Research Labs along with being exposed to various key decision making committees. This includes an exposure to critical aspects of translational research and drug development, and the opportunity to experience senior-level committees designed to engage individuals in the problem-solving/decision making processes at Merck. Overall, the rotation program is designed to facilitate the maturation of the next wave of leaders in drug development at Merck. The identified areas in which the program will focus on are as follows: Clinical Pharmacology Experimental Medicine A subspecialty Therapeutic Area (i.e. Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Neuroscience, Respiratory, Immunology, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Urology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Bone, or Allergy). Rotation schedule: 1st assignment is 15 months (accounts for orientation period) 2nd assignment is 9 months 3rd assignment is 9 months After completing their initial set of rotations, individuals will take up assignments working on major development projects and/or methodologic development projects chosen in consultation with their mentors and the MRL clinical leadership. They will have the opportunity and skills to follow these projects as they progress through the phases of development, or to concentrate on careers within a specific phase that are informed by the perspective and knowledge of the work in other areas that come together and support the investigation of a new drug. In addition graduates will stay linked to the program by meeting with new program participants and acting as mentors of new participants.
