Job Description:
Incumbent will manage the department training program to ensure department staff, other agency staff, volunteers, and contractors working with the department are appropriately trained in content areas and have the necessary proficiency to perform their assigned duties. In addition, incumbent will review facility training curricula and lesson plans for content and revises staff training for adult and juvenile institutions, adult parole services and juvenile community corrections to ensure content is current, relevant and consistent with department policies and operations memoranda, State and Federal laws and rules, and professional standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: federal and state laws, rules, and regulations applicable to corrections; department policies and procedures; public administration as it relates to corrections; principles and theories of program development, and the practices and procedures of implementation; education principles and methods; principles of evidenced based practice in corrections. Ability to: interpret and comprehend agency goals and objectives, policies and procedures; gather, interpret, report, and use information concerning assigned activities; assess program effectiveness and recommend changes or alternatives; train and provide guidance to staff and service users; plan, organize, and direct a training program at the departments' facilities; teach and motivate adults; prepare classroom materials; communicate effectively.
